To mark #IWD24, we’ve pulled together a handful of stories that illustrate the incredible diversity and excellence of the women at DM.

#InspireInclusion

Friday 8th Mach marks International Women’s Day, a global celebration of women’s achievements and a reminder of the ongoing journey towards gender equality. With the theme #InspireInclusion, this year’s focus is on fostering a culture of inclusivity where women are valued, empowered, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Join us in honouring the remarkable accomplishments of women worldwide as we share inspiring stories from our female team members.

Helen Sanderson on equality in the workplace

This year’s UN International Women’s Day theme is “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress." Helen Sanderson reflects on this theme through her own experience, with the area of equality resonating with her the most— reminding her of the incredible support and investment made in her to accelerate her personal and professional progress.

As a people-focused business, Dalcour Maclaren encourages everyone to bring their whole selves to work, and in the six years that she’s been here, Helen has been embraced for who she is.

Our enhanced maternity policy

We believe in championing our people at every stage of their careers, especially during the most transformative times of their lives, and our enhanced maternity policy is a testament to this.

We proudly offer an industry-leading six months of full-pay maternity leave to help our employees focus on what matters most during this pivotal time.

Why is this important? Beyond the immediate benefits to our team members, this policy sets us apart in the SME space, where comprehensive support is rare. It’s more than just a policy. It reflects our core values and commitment to creating a workplace that genuinely supports its people.

Alice King’s journey into farming

At Dalcour Maclaren, we are lucky to work alongside brilliant women and men every day, from inspirational leaders to exceptional young talent. What is truly inspiring is the diversity among us, each person bringing unique strengths and contributions gained from their personal lives and professional experience.

Alice King shares her journey into farming while doing a five-year apprenticeship degree with DM and shows that by embracing a ‘can do’ attitude and having an appetite to learn, you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

Our gender pay gap report explained

Our gender pay gap report shows the difference between pay for men and women at DM, but it doesn’t directly compare the salaries of men and women doing the same job. Instead, it measures the average salary across different roles and levels. Our pay gap exists because, although we employ over 51% of women, we have slightly more men at the top.

We’re really proud to have a significantly lower gap than our competitors. But we’re not stopping there.

In 2024, we will continue to close the gap and level the playing field even further by:

  1. Supporting our team’s career development by increasing skills training provided
  2. Promoting our enhanced family-friendly policies and approach to flexible and agile working
  3. Expanding our engagement with additional schools, universities and diverse talent
  4. Continuing to foster a working environment where people are supported to achieve their personal and professional potential
