Dalcour Maclaren has made a senior hire, welcoming Jonathan Smith as a Director.

Starting his role on 14th December, Jonathan will add valuable expertise to our Transport and Power sectors. Jonathan will work to strengthen the firm’s presence across Dalcour Maclaren’s existing client base.

Jonathan joins us from Bruton Knowles, where he was a Partner for 11 years, specialising in infrastructure project delivery with a focus upon road and rail projects.

Jonathan has extensive experience of representing acquiring authorities throughout the UK including providing advice in relation to land acquisition, compulsory purchase and acting as an expert witness. Some of the projects Jonathan has worked on include Hinkley Point C Nuclear Connection, TfL Crossrail 2, Stafford Norton Bridge Rail Improvement Scheme and East-West Rail Phase 2.

Jonathan, who will work out of Dalcour Maclaren’s South West office near Cirencester says:

“I’m hugely excited about joining the DM Team.

DM has a real reputation for being people focussed and delivering on projects which is how they’ve become a market leader in the infrastructure project delivery sector. Their ambition, USP and fresh approach is clearly behind their historical success and I’m looking forward to playing my part in their ambitious growth plans but also in utilising my expertise across their client base”

Managing Director James Neil, adds: “With a long-standing career in major infrastructure projects, Jonathan brings a level of expertise that I know our clients will embrace and benefit from. Welcome, Jonathan!”

This is a great development for the DM One Team as we look ahead to bold plans for 2021.

Get to know Jonathan

What do you get up to at the weekend?

Mostly taxi for children to various sports but also like to get outside in the country for some exercise including walking and cycling but I am definitely not a MAMIL! I do enjoy a pint when we can get to the pub.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, a rescue dog from Cyprus called Trubble – and yes he is! We were told he would be a Retriever or Labrador cross but as he got older he turned out to be a long-legged hairy Terrier!

What’s your favourite film?

Shaun of the Dead, Simon Pegg went to my school apparently but I can’t remember him!

What was your best Lockdown achievement?

Painting all the windows on the house and avoiding 90% of homeschooling!

Do you have a most-used emoji on your phone?

Tears of laughter plus the red wine one.

How did you get into surveying?

I was brought up on a farm but had an elder brother so always knew I would not be a farmer and Surveying seemed a good option to work in the countryside and be involved with rural property.

Trubble the dog

What are you most looking forward to about joining DM?
