In these unusual times we know that amongst other groups, for those leaving school and university and entering the working world, there may be some uncertainty around job security. That’s why we have worked hard to ensure that those candidates who were offered graduate positions at Dalcour Maclaren for this year have been given 100% confidence that their offers remain, and we are thrilled to have started welcoming all 45 of the successful applicants to join the DM One Team between now and the end of September. We have even managed to make offers to some additional graduates who had had offers fall through elsewhere as a result of the effects of Covid-19 on businesses.
Amongst the new starters we welcome back 3 students who completed their placement year with us in 2018/9 and 5 who completed work experience programs with us. We also have 6 new placement students starting and are currently recruiting our newest apprentices!
Our graduate onboarding system has had a facelift for 2020, and we are really pleased with the outcome of our new interview and assessment processes, as well as the increase in background diversity and areas of specialism that this has enabled. For the first time we have graduates joining all areas of our professional services, from Utilities and Infrastructure Surveying and Property Management, to Geomatics and Environment and Planning, as a result of opening up more opportunities and extending our recruitment to a wider range of universities and subjects. Altogether we can boast a team of graduates from 22 different universities which is the highest number DM has ever had.
Recent contract wins and the ramp up in workload within the sector as a whole means there are loads of exciting opportunities for our graduates to get involved with. In truth, we can’t wait for them all to start so that they can get stuck in! We wish all the best to those who have already started and whose faces we are getting to know and look forward to meeting the remaining new starters over the next 2 months!
