Last week, members of our Geomatics team attended two conferences to learn more about recent technology and innovations in their specialist areas.
Tim Donoyou, Associate Director, comments, “A really great week in the Geomatics world with not one but two conferences! The ESRI UK Conference gets bigger and better every year, and it is really inspiring to meet, listen and talk to fellow GIS professionals."
“The highlight for me was the genuinely friendly atmosphere and a clear focus on collaboration and data sharing to deliver projects more efficiently and cost-effectively to improve everyone’s world, ultimately. The Customer Success Awards were an excellent way to end the day, and DM will definitely enter some of our fantastic ESRI innovations next year."
Mike Lelliott, Senior GIS Specialist, and Tom Forgan, GIS Specialist, also attended the ESRI UK Conference;
Mike said, “I particularly found Work Automation really interesting, and the ArcGis Hunt talks, which I feel will help streamline data sharing."
Tom commented, “The ArcGis runtime API for IOS and ESRI app developer, including VR usage on mobile apps, updates to arcade script and using this within ESRI Dashboards as well as the ArcGis Site Scan all were fascinating, and I am keen to explore collaboration with the Land Surveying team and drone use – using 360 imagery."
Nick Brandham, CAD Specialist, who attended the Geospatial Business Conference, said, “It was great to learn about Undet Software – creators of an innovative point cloud workflow plug-in for AutoCAD, which provides a much more effective and efficient method of drawing up measured surveys from point cloud data. It was interesting to see and hear more about the Trimble Catalyst, and the low capital cost and subscription model pricing look attractive. There were lots of new technology on show, including some crazy looking drones, and Leica’s BLK range was getting a lot of attention, especially when mounted on a robot dog!"
“Attending the Geomatics Business event offered a fantastic insight into the latest offerings from the Geospatial industry, which is key to DM staying at the forefront in such a fast-paced environment. Some excellent knowledge sharing, and it was great to meet some valuable contacts, old and new!"
