Environment & Planning Apprenticeship

Get the lowdown on launching your career with us

The programme in a nutshell

Start your journey in environment and planning consultancy by working towards your MSc in Urban Planning – while also contributing to landmark utilities and infrastructure projects that make a real impact and help the UK and Ireland transition to Net Zero.

During your 5-year apprenticeship you’ll get to:

  • Study for your MSc in Urban Planning with the University of the West of England – which means you can work towards your Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
  • Learn on-the-job through site visits, shadowing, and hands-on project tasks.
  • Build your knowledge of how planning and environmental decisions are made in real-world projects.
  • Support the Environment & Planning team by researching sites, identifying potential challenges, and helping to prepare reports and shape solutions.
  • Be part of a team invested in your development – and a company committed to a cleaner, greener future.

I’ve really enjoyed working across a diverse mix of projects in sectors such as water and power. Each project brings its own set of challenges, priorities, and ways of working, which keeps the role engaging and constantly evolving. This exposure has also broadened my understanding of environmental and planning considerations, as well as the wider technical, social, and operational factors that shape these projects.
