Do I need previous experience to apply?
No – we don’t expect you to have previous industry experience. But you will need to have a full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.

What qualifications do I need?
This depends on the apprenticeship you apply for. You can find the details for each one on our apprenticeship pages:
Are apprenticeships paid?
Yes – all apprentices at DM are paid. Salary details for each role will usually be included in the job description.
How long is the apprenticeship?
Most of our apprenticeships last for five years. During this time, you’ll be working full-time while studying for a degree and working towards a professional qualification.
What degree will I study as part of the apprenticeship?
This depends on your apprenticeship. You can find the details for each one on our apprenticeship pages:
Will my degree be funded through the apprenticeship?
Yes – your degree is fully funded by DM.
We’ll also cover additional costs where applicable, including travel, accommodation and food when you’re required to be away for study or training.
Which university will I study with?
You’ll study with one of our partner universities, depending on your apprenticeship pathway. You can find the details for each one on our apprenticeship pages:
What qualification will I gain at the end of the apprenticeship?
You’ll complete a full degree in your subject area, along with real industry experience and the opportunity to work towards professional accreditation such as RTPI or RICS, depending on your pathway.
Where will I be based?
Where you’re based depends on which apprenticeship you do, but it will be in one of our main UK offices in Bignell, Bristol, Crewe or Tewkesbury. Plus, you’ll get the chance to travel across the UK and Ireland.

What is the application process like?
Our application process is designed to be simple and supportive. You can find a full breakdown of each stage on our hiring process page.
But in a nutshell, it includes an application, an initial chat on the phone and an assessment day where you’ll get the chance to meet the team and take part in interactive activities.
What are you looking for in candidates?
We’re looking for people who are curious, motivated, and ready to learn.
What does a typical week look like?
There’s no fixed ‘typical week’ at DM. Your time is usually split between office-based work, team collaboration and getting out on site to contribute to live projects.

Will I work on live projects?
Yes – apprentices work on live projects from early on, contributing to major infrastructure schemes across the UK and Ireland.
What kind of work will I be doing?
Your work will vary depending on your discipline, but it will always be hands-on, challenging (in a good way) and connected to real projects.
What support will I get as an apprentice?
You’ll be supported from day one by your team and line manager. Plus, you’ll get structured development through the DM Academy.

How does training work?
Training combines on-the-job experience, structured learning and professional development sessions through the DM Academy and your team.
