Our ESG impact: building a responsible future
12 May 2026We have published our 2025-26 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Impact Report, setting out clearly where we are today and how we are progressing as a business. This is our first dedicated ESG report, and it establishes a clear baseline against which we will measure and report our performance year on year.
Taking decisive action on the environment
We are committed to achieving net zero across all scopes by 2030. This ambition underpins how we operate and how we work with our clients, suppliers and partners.
We have already made strong progress. Across our offices under DM control, we have transitioned to 100% renewable electricity and eliminated Scope 1 emissions through the removal of fossil fuel heating systems. We have also delivered an 18% reduction in energy use intensity, demonstrating that operational efficiency sits alongside decarbonisation in our approach.
To accelerate further reductions, we have strengthened how we measure and manage carbon, including establishing a baseline for business travel emissions. This gives us the data we need to make informed decisions and target action where it will have the greatest impact.
We are currently on a journey to B Corp status and look forward to achieving this prestigious accreditation, showing our determination to be an innovative part of a global movement working to benefit people and the planet.
“ESG is embedded in how we operate and how we make decisions. This report sets out where we are today - not just where we aspire to be - and establishes a clear baseline against which we will track progress year-on-year.”
Putting people at the centre of our business
Our social performance reflects our long-standing belief that people are central to our success. Our workforce is evenly balanced, with 50% women and 50% men, and we are proud that 23% of our team are in early careers or Earn and Learn roles.
Employee engagement remains strong, with an employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) of +43, placing us in the upper tier globally. This reflects the culture we continue to build: one that values development, wellbeing and long-term careers.
For the second year running, we have achieved a Gold accreditation from The 5% Club, recognising our sustained investment in apprenticeships, graduate pathways and structured development programmes.
Alongside this, we have established the DM Foundation to support social mobility and help young people access careers across the utilities and infrastructure sector. Our education partnerships include the Bloxham Sustainability Challenge, which is now active in more than 30 schools across the UK.
Strengthening governance and accountability
Strong governance is critical to delivering our ESG ambitions. Over the past year, we have introduced a formal ESG framework aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and embedded it across our business.
We now hold five ISO certifications covering quality, environment, health and safety, information security and energy management. Leadership diversity continues to improve, with women representing 55% of our Senior Leadership Team.
We reported zero instances of bribery or corruption during 2025 and are progressing towards B Corp certification, further strengthening transparency and accountability across our operations.
“Our ESG focus is more important than ever at DM, and we aim to be leading this in our industry, working closely with our clients so that we achieve our shared goals.”
Looking ahead
Our focus for 2026 is on deepening and extending this work. Key priorities include expanding supplier ESG assessments, enhancing carbon and energy data capability, and further integrating sustainability metrics into day-to-day operational delivery and client frameworks.
